Dear Parents and Families,
We need your help!!! As part of our Science program this year, the middle school will be participating in a Future City challenge. Our Future City challenge will incorporate science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM)!! The challenge this year is to design the public spaces for a city 100 years in the future. This will include planning for transportation, sustainability, education, recreation, communication, aesthetics, and more! For this to be successful, I am looking for parents with engineering or planning experience to help out teams as mentors. We need you!!! Each mentor is expected to spend about 1 hour/week working with their team between now and February. We are hoping to complete most of this project during school hours; however, mentors will not necessarily have to be on-site during those times. If you, or someone you know, is interested in helping us out, please send a PAN or email to Dr. Neuber ASAP!!
Every team needs a mentor, and we are registering teams and mentors now.
Our Future City challenge is going to replace the St. Charles Science Fair this year. However, if your middle school student is interested in creating an individual science fair project for participation at the
Regional level, I will be happy to support them in that endeavor.
Calling all Cardinals to take the Box Tops Challenge!
Your challenge is to be the class to bring in the most Box Tops by October 25th.
Each classroom will have a box tops container. Start collecting those box tops this weekend, and start bringing them to your classroom on Monday.
If you are the class that is up for the challenge, you will earn a Pajama Day!!!
On August 23rd, our students began taking Star Assessments in Math and English Language Arts. The 3rd-8th Grade students will begin to bring those results home on September 15th. The students will be tested regularly, throughout the school year. Test results are scheduled to be sent home three times each academic year to show each student's personal growth. Please go to our new Renaissance Learning page for more resources and information about this program the Archdiocese of Santa Fe has chosen for our district to use as a mode of assessment and data analysis.
"My name is Teri Lopez. I have been married to my husband, Carlos, for almost 20 years. We have two wonderful children; our son is a freshman at UNM, and our daughter is a sophomore in high school. We are parishioners at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. At OLA Parish School, I served as a room parent, girl scout leader, and school volunteer. I assisted in the school office and substituted as an Educational Assistant. I look forward to working with the great staff and students at St. Charles!
Thank You Cardinal Families!
Your commitment to excellence does not go unnoticed.
While our intention is to frequently update our website, Sycamore Education is still the most reliable, and preferred method of relaying information to parents.
